Scientific Collaboration
In addition to interaction with other departments within UHS and its affiliated colleges and institutions, the department is working in collaboration with Haemophilia society of Pakistan, Lahore; Punjab institute of Blood Transfusion, Lahore and National Institute of Blood Diseases (NIBD), Karachi for training and research in the diverse field of Haematology.

- Molecular Markers in Chronic Lymphoproliferativ Disorders.
- Carrier Detection of Haemophilia B by Indirect Linkage Analysis.
- Prevalence of JAK2 V617F in patients of Myeloproliferative Disorders.
- Evaluation of Acquired Abnormalities of Platelets in Patients of Chronic Liver Disease.
- Determination of Reference Values of Complete Blood Counts of Healthy Population of different age Groups in Pakistan.

Future Plans
Linkages will be developed with foreign institutions both for collaborative research and for short term training of personnel in specialized techniques and procedures in the field of Haematology and Transfusion Medicine.
