Introduction

The department of Morbid Anatomy & Histopathology is a bridge between Basic and Clinical Medical Sciences and is actively involved in teaching and research in basic and clinical subjects. The department is offering Ph.D program in Pathology and related specialists.

Mission

Research in Health Sciences has been neglected in the past. Under the umbrella of University of Health Sciences, department is determined to boost research activities in basic and clinical medical sciences. Our mission is to produce Ph.Ds of international standard in collaboration with foreign universities. MOU with university of Texas has already been signed for exchange of graduate students and faculty members.

Main area of research is Oncological nephropathology & primary muscle disorders.

Academic Collaboration

In addition to a meaningful interaction with other departments of basic and clinical sciences within UHS and its affiliated colleges and institutions, the department will coordinate and collaborate in training and research with other national biomedical institutions like the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology Lahore (INMOL) and National Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE). Linkages are being developed with foreign institutions both for collaborative research and for short term training of personnel in specialized techniques and procedures.

Teaching Activities

The members of our faculty pursue an active involvement in the student recruitment, curricular development, teaching and research. It consists of a dedicated team of individuals with varying interests, duties and responsibilities. Teaching will be based on formal lectures, tutorials, problem based learning, discussions, interactive sessions, seminars, journal club and laboratory training.

Admission

Postgraduate program at UHS in the department of Morbid Anatomy & Histopathology is research training program leading to Ph.D Candidates who are medical/ dental graduate and possess Postgraduate/ higher diploma are eligible for admission in Ph.D program. The department also runs M.Phil leading to Ph.D program for bright fresh graduates/ graduates with teaching/ practical experience.
