With more than 37 years experience of practicing Psychiatry, with more than a hundred publications in National and International Journals to his credit & having co-authored more than twenty eight books, he has finally established the foundations of UHS. National recognition at the highest level has been bestowed upon him in the shape of Sitara-e-Imtiaz (1986) and Hilal-e-Imtiaz (2002). Internationally he has been honored as the "Companion of Honor" by the University of Manchester, UK. He is director "WHO collaborating center for mental health Research and Training Rawalpindi", in addition to being on the Board of scores of international Bodies, Centres, Organizations and Associations. One of the brilliant graduates of the 1968 batch pocketing dozens of medals and as many distinctions; he completed his MRCP and MRCPsych in 1972 and was later awarded the Fellowships by UK, Edinburgh, London and CPSP. Dr. Mubbashar holds the chair of the Global Mental Health Network based at the World Bank, Washington; is a member WHO expert Committee on Mental Health and Drug Dependence, is a regional coordinator for Eastern Mediterranean region, at the International Consortium on Mental Health Policy and Services. In the academic world, he holds the honors of being a visiting professor at the institute of Psychiatry, University of London, University of Katmandu and an external examiner at the University of Manchester, University of London and the Aga Khan University. He is also a member of Editorial Advisory Board of at least a dozen indexed journals. Consciously avoiding the pitfall of following a narrow tunnel vision of professional life Dr. Mubbashar has multifarious and diverse interests in the literary, religious and mystic fields.
