Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad
Introduction
|
The emergence of two Medical Colleges i.e. Punjab Medical College and Rawalpindi Medical College, simultaneously at the
campus of University of agriculture, Faisalabad in 1973-74 was a historical event by any stretch of imagination, in the annals of medical Education. It sent a wave of happiness throughout the province. But for the unsuited support and co-operation of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad which accommodates both the Medical College on its campus, squeezing its own departmental Facilities at considerable inconveniences, the growth the two Medical Colleges would have been retarded and not reached the stage of development where they stand today. The Rawalpindi Medical College was shifted to Rawalpindi on 5th November, 1974.
With a liberal grant from the Government , the structure of new buildings was completed in 1982 enabling the College to shift to its new premises spread over an area of about 158 acres. The construction of buildings and furnishing of Laboratories,
teaching hospital etc. , continued at a fairly rapid pace and by invested on the college . It is heartening that the college has all the facilities and infra structure which a modern institution can aspire for in a developing country.
