Introduction
Physical Therapy is an essential pillar of modern health care — truly a science of healing and the art of caring. It encompasses the examination, evaluation, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Cardiovascular, and Respiratory systems, as well as functional impairments such as pain, edema, physiological, structural, and psychosomatic conditions. Therapeutic approaches include movement-based interventions, manual therapy, physical agents, and advanced modalities to relieve pain, restore function, and prevent complications. As a discipline, Physical Therapy spans the entire spectrum of health sciences: preventive, promotive, diagnostic, rehabilitative, and curative care. According to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the National Curriculum Review Committee (NCRC), physiotherapists are entitled to use the prefix “Dr.” before their names (notification No. UHS-REG-21(syndicate)/6794, dated 17 November 2021), provided they write “(PT)” after their names. HEC has also stated that only a qualified physiotherapist may chair a department as Head of Physiotherapy (notice No. HEC/FAD/CURR:DPT/2021/1562, dated 25 August 2021).
