Vice Chancellor

Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore is a professor of paediatrics having a distinguished reputation as a scholar, academician, and administrator. He did his M.B.B.S from King Edward Medical College, Lahore; MRCP (UK) from Royal College of Physicians, United Kingdom; MRCPCH (UK) from Royal College of Pediatrics & Child Health, London, UK; and, FRCP (London) from Royal College of Physicians, London, UK. He has a vast experience of more than 35 years of undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor in the field of Paediatrics and Neonatology. He has exposure to international best practices about academic functions both in classroom teaching and research. He has published over 40 research publications in international and national medical journals. In addition to being a member of the faculty, he has a vast administrative experience of more than 14 years in the capacity of dean, medical director, and medical superintendent at the Children's Hospital Lahore. He is experienced in managing high-level medical institutions and is capable of resource mobilization. The Children's Hospital was declared the best public sector hospital in Punjab during his tenure. He developed 26 paeds subspecialties and bed strength increased from 100 to 1100 beds. In recognition of his services, he was appointed as Executive Director, Strategic Management and Internal Policy Unit of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Punjab, where he was responsible for the operationalization of all public sector teaching institutions and medical universities concerning implementation and monitoring of Minimum Service Delivery Standards notified by the Punjab Healthcare Commission. Dr. Rathore has a keen interest in charity work and was the president of the Patients Welfare Society at the Children's Hospital Lahore for 14 years. He made a huge contribution to the collection of funds from philanthropists and then utilized them judiciously in different areas of patient care.
